Karen Long speaks at the unveiling of the traveling memorial known as The Murder Wall at the state Capitol as Buchanan County Prosecuting Attorney Dwight Scroggins and Attorney General Nixon look on. She is the daughter-in-law of James and Zelma Long, who were murdered by Carmen Deck in their Jefferson County home in 1996. Deck is on death row and had his case heard by the U.S. Supreme Court in March 2005.

Criminal Division

The Criminal Division represents the state in every felony case, including capital cases, appealed to the Supreme Court of Missouri and the three districts of the Missouri Court of Appeals (Eastern, Western and Southern). Each year, the division's attorneys litigate more than 900 felony appeals in those courts.
